I don't think it is the esc/motor as I tried swapping the motors to different channels and the same result always happened with channel 3. Whichever motor/esc was on channel 3 would have a delayed response but the others would be fine. How do you check the accelerometer?

yup. I did it using the throttle override in cleanflight while powering up the quad. it didn't help
