What to use with first budget quad build! Noob!

I have never done all the math for a custom build. But you can look at what others have built and what comes with a stock 450 and make the comparasion. I would go by rpm's per volt for the motor and keep the ESC's at a slightly higher current rating just like you did. I just looked at a site and...

    Radio help

6 channels will work for a quad (needs 4 minimum) My Naza uses 7. The main 4 plus gps/atti/man for one then IOC for another other plus the fail safe switch.

    Help Wanted With DJI F550

Just to clarify. 3.7V per cell is minimum. don't use that 3.5V number I gave you, that was bad advice.

    Radio help

Is the radio and receiver specific to the heli? Can you get a receiver to use with the quad your building or will you have to scavenge it out of the heli?

    Help Wanted With DJI F550

Just looked at the Naza GUI and it's second level of low voltage protection is set for 14.8V or 3.7 per cell. It's a selectable setting in the dropdown menu on the voltage protection page just select 4S.

    Help Wanted With DJI F550

Lipo battery individual cell voltage is 3.7V per cell (nominal). Times that by 4 (4S) and you get 14.8V. A fully charged lipo should read 4.2V per cell so thats 16.8V. Never fully discharge your lipo's it's very bad for them. 3.5V per cell would be a good number to go down to just to be safe...

    My first quad completed

Took forever to finally get everything that I wanted when I first set out to build this quad but it's as complete as it's going to get. FPV, gimbal and an OSD for battery voltage. It comes in just below 1500 grams. Time to start planning my next one.

    Syma X5C with FPV?

It doesnt look like it does FPV, a lot of these toy level quads are not able to be modified so thats a drawback but for the price it seems like an ok starter. At least you won't be out a ton of money if you have a fly away or bad crash. You basically have one way communication. The radio...

    new batteries for multi rotor

Talk about some skills! I wish I could do half of what he did. Is it just me or is it impossible to spin while moving in the same direction like he did? Is that cause it's set up as a heli and not a fixed wing? Nice quads.

    new batteries for multi rotor

I kinda got excited about these but then I noticed that the discharge rate is only 10C. They are more than 100g lighter then a comparable battery but I'm not too comfortable with the low discharge rate.

    Motor Lift Capabilities

Just off the top of my head it's not going to happen with 10" props but I couldnt say for sure. Theres a heavy lift octo on youtube that lifts 55 lbs you may want to search for that.

Hello from a newb - my life story

Welcome Heath. You're like most of us here. Started out small and moved up from there. I started with a phantom and then built a 450, added FPV and just put my first gimbal on it. I hope to build a larger hexa copter this winter if I can get the cash together and it stays at the sale price it's...

To build or not to build...

A good entry point into building your own quad is a DJI 450 (flamewheel). Or anything in the 450/550 class. It's not huge but will accomodate FPV and a gopro and a gimbal. It's a kit so all of the math has been done as to ESC/ motor combo etc. You will have to buy a radio transmitter/reviever...

    Long Range FPV

Yeah, I hear you but i'm not exactly sure how it will go down. The foreman of the demo company thought my quad was cool and all that and he let me film the site but he's not in charge of the explosives part and I can't count on him to just give me a call at the 5 min mark. I have a couple of...

    Long Range FPV

I used the term implode incorrectly. When they demo a building it's supposed to fall into itself and not explode outward. I was going to run down there tomorrow and check a few different vantage points to see how good my view would be with a gopro. I am not expecting much. Another problem I have...

    FPV Question

Yes, The video signal out from the camera (if there is one) would have to be fed into a transmitter then that signal would go to a reciever (on the ground) and then the output of the reciever would go to a video monitor. You could also buy a stand alone system and the only extra weight it would...

    Long Range FPV

Hey Dirt Diver, Just did a test today with my DJI 450 running a 250ma FPV system and a gopro on board (but not powered by the quad battery) I got about 7 min with a 2200ma battery. about half and half flying/hovering. Needed some info for a video I am trying to make. The plant I used to work at...
