    What is the best?

Here it is http://petapixel.com/2014/04/24/cameraman-loses-15k-quadcopter-amazon-rainforest/ it was Animal planet and I got the link from the news section on this forum.

    What is the best?

Hard to say. Probably wouldn't want to dive in head first on an opinion of others. 4 grand should get you started but for professional photography you may want a hexa or octo copter ( for a DSLR camera). I would want something that was swinging larger props (at a slower rpm) 12" to 15" maybe and...

Let's talk geometry -- is 90deg X (or plus) frame the MOST stable?

Yes it makes sense that the quad would be more stable but like you mentioned isn't that the same as saying the controller has to work less to keep it stable? The flight controller does all the work to keep it stable so a perfectly balanced and symmetrical quad would mean that it doesn't have to...

very newbie wants to get started

So now you will have a nice phantom with a gimbal for your go pro. Enjoy that for a while and then you can look into upgrading to a FPV system. You will love the phantom, I have a phantom 1 that I no longer fly because I have another quad that I built. The phantoms are really nice quads.

very newbie wants to get started

Doesn't the phantom 2 vision+ come with a gimbaled camera installed? A quick look at the website showed it sending video to a smart phone for basic FPV. DJI phantoms are great and for a lot of people they are all they will ever want or need in a quad. I would wait till you get your phantom and...

    FPV question

There's a field here in my area that RC enthusiasts have permission to use. One guy uses a ground station with a 10" screen. He sets up under a tree in the shade and its very comfortable and the screen can be easily seen. Too bad there can't always be a tree to set up under. I think OSD works...

    FPV question

LOL. Thats some crazy flying. I would be afraid it would crap out over the roof and my quad would be stranded up there.

Like the blimp idea. Towers are boring. LOL.

    Turnigy 9x unusual setting problems.

I have a DJI 450 and Naza M lite as well. I went through a similar problem not long ago when I lost the bind between my quad and DX8 for some unknown reason. I found a few problems but one thing I found was in the DJI software I did not have PPM, S bus or Traditional checked. Mine runs on...

    Turnigy 9x unusual setting problems.

You tube is your friend. I have a DX8 and must have watched 20 hours of videos to get my quad working perfectly. It really sucks that owners manuals are so incomplete and you have to rely on you tube and web forums. A local club can be helpful too.

    Tethered & hardwired

I would be concerned that the current draw would be so high that you would have to use heavy gauge wire and that would add to the overall weight that the quad would have to keep in the air (although you could remove the battery). The wear and tear part is important as well. I saw an article that...

    FPV question

I just skimmed the material quickly and saw that your quad has a 500ma battery. The video camera and transmitter power draw should be very low for it to work. Your relativity small battery will now have to power the quad, camera and transmitter. The transmitter can be a big power hog. It may all...

    Tethered & hardwired

Seems like it would be easier to just put up a pole and mount the camera and repeater on that. If the quad were tethered it wouldnt be able to move very far and it would have to support the weight of the tether and the wind would probably play havoc with it.

very newbie wants to get started

Hobby king just came out with a new one called quanum nova. It looks like a DJI phantom clone but way cheaper. If I were new this would be something I would consider. It may be a little big for indoors and the GPS wouldnt work indoors but still looks like a good entry level quad.

    Blades Fly off in Flight.

Great video, Looks like you have a nice family. BTW I am originally from Ohio, Toledo. Grew up running around the islands in the Maumee Bay. I am familiar with Mohican State Park which looks like it's in your neck of the woods. What video editing program do you use? I'm using Magix movie edit...

    Blades Fly off in Flight.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Seems kind of goofy but when you explain it it makes perfect sense. there are no strict rules, only what works. The blades are no longer all on the same plane so there may be some difference in flight/control characteristics but probably not enough to...

My beautiful JasGad M6 Hexacopter went down today from over 100 feet!

$1700 for everything you listed? That's a bargain. I am looking for something in the 12" to 15" (prop) range. I feel that larger quads are more stable and can handle wind better.

My beautiful JasGad M6 Hexacopter went down today from over 100 feet!

These mini quads seem to be all the rage lately. I would love to have one but I still need to maintain my focus. First build a mid size quad and use it as a learning platform to build on and then get/build a larger quad with a gimbal for quality video recording. Just got FPV going and OSD will...

    Real Flight Quad Trials

I'm not a video game guy but I do have a phantom and it's not like you describe. I'm no great quad copter pilot either but it's a fairly smooth flyer IMO.
