+1 ,,,, I just ordered this Tarot 650 frame , probably a little more advanced than I needed but for $100 you get a lot of frame that should last a long time.

    Flying in snow?

The ill effects only start showing up over time. Electrical and moisture don't usually mix well. I just shake my head when I see somebody taking a garden hose to the engine compartment of their car. And thats usually after they have sprayed it down with a chemical oxidating degreaser,,,, NOT GOOD.

    Flying in snow?

Not that many of us do that but it's a great mental note to have. " If you fully charge you lipo in the cold garage and then bring it inside. The voltage will increase as it warms up, causing a runaway reaction ending with a big bang and a burned down house.:( "

Difference between Syma X5C and X5C-1 upgrade

I started to remove the top canopy of the -1 and soon found that it's now all one piece. I wanted to poke the antenna thru like you can see just above the Syma writing on the black one. So , since the center canopy can't be removed and I didn't feel like taking the whole thing apart , I'll...

Difference between Syma X5C and X5C-1 upgrade

X5C-1 on the left , minor electrical and physical upgrades. Either one is a great beginner quad. Leave the guards on :) These red props were colored with a chisel Sharpie.

    Project 600-650 mm Quad

Nothing wrong with that. It looks like a great project. Glad to see you hardwiring your connections . I learn'd that over many years of RC. Mine will take a while to build as we have a son in college. As I stated earlier , I've got to get these Syma X5's learned 100% first. I appreciate all...

    Project 600-650 mm Quad

Thanks a lot ,,, I appreciate all the help. I'll add up all the weights of estimated components and go from there. Efficiency vs. manoeuvrability I'd guess are the trade offs. I'll get the numbers and budget accordingly. Have you ever put one together similar to this ?

    Project 600-650 mm Quad

I figured if I was going to spend $40-$50 on a basic frame , why not spend a $100 on one that should last and be able to get parts for in the future. It's shipped ,,,, yes , most of the reviews are quite positive.
