    RFT quads and quality

Thanks QuadNoob , Yes , I have to keep reminding myself what these things cost when I get critical of a certain design. I remember when a newbie rc parent would bring their kid to the carpet oval track we helped run and you had to nicely tell them that the $50 Radio Shack car really couldn't...

Black / Red Syma X5 quads

It seems like Red Rock distributing " thru Amazon" has the exclusive distribution rights. At least that was what their response insinuated.

    Battery Voltage Levels

I agree 100% with this approach as it is a lot to grasp for a newbie. It's actually ," Keep it simple stupid " I let my engineering background loose sometimes ,,,, ha ha

    Battery Voltage Levels

Many , many times , the C rating is strictly a marketing number , not a real world number. Yes , you usually get a better battery when it's C number is higher but no where what the numbers factor out to. For example , take a 5000mah battery that has a 100c burst rating . Your talking 500 amps...

    Battery Voltage Levels

I agree 100 % that if you terminate your charge voltage on the low side , like 4.10 to 4.15 AND cut off your discharge voltage at 3.60 to 3.70 volts , your lipo's should last an incredibly long time. I guess I've always been more of a performance person and may sacrifice some battery life. A...

    Battery Voltage Levels

Hi holtneil , Not trying to be a wise ass here but you can discharge a lipo to 3.30 with zero problems. When a battery is rated for mah from the manufacturer , thats their cut off voltage. Thats what I have my bench units set for when I post the tested mah. As far as a flight warning voltage ...

Black / Red Syma X5 quads

I saw a picture or ad somewhere about different color ones. I can't seen to find it again. I believe they showed them in blue or red ? Somebody smarter than me must have determined that white was the easiest to see.

    RFT quads and quality

We got another X5 to replace the defective X1 that we gave our nephew for Christmas. This thing flys great. He's 12 , very quick mentally and has incredible hand / eye coordination. He can do 360 flips in their house as they have a cathedral ceiling. I thought it was funny that within the...

Syma X5 Rotor / blade shaft bushings

A small thin stainless steel sleeve would awesome. A single drop of oil may slow down the wear but this is plastic not nylon.

    2 vs. 3 blade rotors

Thanks for the input guys. You have "real" quads ,not toys like ours. The replacement 3 blade rotors for a Syma X5 are a real joke , not worth the time to try.

Black / Red Syma X5 quads

Syma won't even respond to my e-mails about this model. They made the blades that came with it , there has to be replacements.

Syma X5 Rotor / blade shaft bushings

Has anyone come up with a fix to the excess rotor shaft play ? The stock set up is just the top and bottom gear sitting in a plastic mount, which gets loose very quickly. Some sort of thin sleeve " straw" might work ??

Fix for unplugging a Syma X5 battery

Yes , I was just trying to help out a newbie who would leave it stock. I run 18 gauge JST connectors / wire on the three X5's we have. Note : Then use the Dromida 700 mah battery for a plug and play. Even though mine is hardwired with a Nanotech 750 :)

    quadcolter battery modification

I got one of these to test as they fit the X5 after removing the rear peg in the battery compartment and using a JST connector. They test out at 670 mah and have decent voltage. Not the voltage of the Nanotech 750 but quite a bit better than a stock 500. I'd quess 9-10 min. run time w/o a camera.

I can't even find any red blades for this model.

One Rotor a little tight - Is that OK?

You should deffinetly address it. The pinion and spur gear NEED to run free. Tight is not good. I'd try what holtneil suggested . Make sure and oval the hole just a few thousands and then try. A small drill bit held it your hand would work fine , no power tools needed. Sand / Water is not good...
