    Resurrecting A Totaled Elev-8 Quadcopter

I will try to get some video this morning - will fly a waypoint mission and use a camera mounted on a tripod. BTW, I managed to find some thrust data on the Tarot 4002 620KV motor - specs are hard to come by but a Russian guy ran a test on YouTube: Here is the thrust/current curve along with...

    Resurrecting A Totaled Elev-8 Quadcopter

I had success today! I had to replace flight controllers and a balky engine (#3), but after all the APM configurations, I was ablle to get it to arm, fire up the motors and disarm. So I installed the propellers and took it out to a nearby parking lot. It armed after getting GPS lock and I took...

    Resurrecting A Totaled Elev-8 Quadcopter

February 21 Status: I had to open up the bottom chassis plate to reposition the APM power module in order to get more slack to the leads going to the APM itself. I also had to get more slack to the wires going to the #3 motor. All that done, I leveled the motors and tightened up the mounting...

    My Tarot 650 Sport Build

I could not get video from the aircraft. After a fair amount of troubleshooting, I decided that the vtx was bad and so I ordered another - a 600 mW unit (I wanted more range anyway). When it arrived and I wired it up, I still could not get video. The Feiyu-tech gimbal is made to minimize loose...

    Resurrecting A Totaled Elev-8 Quadcopter

February 18 Update: The remaining wire I needed arrived yesterday and I was able to complete routing power through the booms to the motors. But there's not much space in the chassis. I had to pretty much take everything apart in the chassis and try to put it back together - here is the...

    My Tarot 650 Sport Build

I ordered a 7" Eachine diversity receiver/monitor from Amazon as well as a small GoPro attachment that has a thumbscrew for mounting the monitor to my Spektrum transmitter using a GoPro mount: I am looking forward to trying it out!

Charleston helicopter crash blamed on drone; FAA investigating

Not really much info here, but my impressions: Setting aside whether the quad was in a restricted area, the drone pilot should have been aware of the presence of the helicopter and take steps not to be in near proximity. We don't know how close it actually was, but if the instructor felt...

    My Tarot 650 Sport Build

Thanks! I just went through the procedure for fixing the gimbal roll adjustment - won't know for sure if I fixed it until I fly it, but seems to be okay holding the aircraft and moving it about by hand.

    My Tarot 650 Sport Build

I thought that I'd document the build process I went through with my Tarot quadcopter. Yes, this is the one that I had trouble getting the landing gear to retract, as well as using the AR8010T receiver. All issues have been resolved except for one minor problem: I need to calibrate the roll...

Anyone Have Experience With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver?

There was no label on mine - perhaps it was left off or I got an early one? Anyway, an image on Google gave me a clue - though the wire colors weren't the same, I guess that ground was on top and the signal lead was on the bottom, which turned out to be the case.

First Quadcopter build, am I missing anything?

What kind of quad will this be? Just a basic trainer? Will you land it flat or plan to have some sort of landing gear/skid? Will you need wire/connectors to route power from the distribution board to the ESCs to the motors? No FPV? Do you have motor mounts? How are you going to mount the F.C. to...

Anyone Have Experience With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver?

Okay guys, it is fixed and working! And the receiver is getting power from the throttle servo connection. But it was a hassle getting things connected as there were no markings on the receiver as to how to plug in the servo connections. The manual gave no clue and I could not find any help...

Anyone Have Experience With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver?

I just tried it out - using an ESC with a BEC, I plugged the command line to the throttle port but no joy. No perceived power to the receiver. I then plugged the ESC command line to the Power port and success! I was able to successfully bind to my transmitter, and when I toggled the gear switch...

Anyone Have Experience With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver?

Thanks all! I will try out using the throttle as well as the power ports to see which gives me good results.

Anyone Have Experience With Spektrum AR8010T Receiver?

I bought an AR8010T receiver for my Tarot 650 Sport q1uadcopter because I needed 7 channels - 4 for flight controls, 1 for selecting flight modes, 1 for camera gimbal tilt controls and 1 for landing gear control (retractable landing gear). The problem I've had with it is I can't seem to get it...

    Resurrecting A Totaled Elev-8 Quadcopter

Feb 11 update: It's been awhile since I posted anything as I was waiting for 14 awg wire which I ordered from Amazon - took forever to arrive from China and I realized that I didn't order enough, DOH!!! So I've ordered some more from Walmart, as the supplier I bought from is now out of stock...

Test Flight And Disastrous Crash Of Modified Elev-8 Quadcopter

Haven't done this. Will probably do so this weekend - I think I can salvage two of the motors. Will report back on what I find, if anything.
