First real quad

For Christmas my wife bought me a super cheap sharper image dx-3 and I was instantly hooked I flew it for a week constantly as soon as the battery would charge I would fly it dead and soon I wanted more so I went out and got what I thought was an upgrade from my 30$ dx-3 which was a sky viper 2400hd and yes I know both are far and away nothing but toys but I feel like I'm already outflying what the factory software can do and im a little worried about dripping 500+ dollars on a fpv racer and breaking it week 1 so is there any middle ground between something like the sky viper 2400 hd and the eachine wizard (best reviewed cheap fpv racer I've found)???? Any help would be greatly appreciated

What did you pay, ~$90 for the Viper? Just get the Wizard @ $197 (+ another battery or 2) and start flying. You will also now own a controller/TX that can handle 20 models. FlySky makes many inexpensive RXs to choose from if you ever want to build a quad. Or get something like this for your fleet.

Don't laugh but I've been looking sky viper uses a version of cleanflight so whats to stop me from flashing the newest version of cleanflight and making it a 3d flyer?

I'm totally new to this and I received the Syma X-11 for Christmas. I absolutely love it. It's a pretty stable quad copter and once you get the hang of it, it is incredibly easy to fly. It is a smaller copter, though Plus, you can buy spare batteries and fly for a much longer period of time. I got the X-11, a case, and spare batteries all for around $65. If you're looking for something bigger, I've heard great things about the Syma X-5.
