JJRC H31 Erratic Behavior

So this one has me stumped.

These JJRC H31s are fun little quads. Not the ones I fly the most but they are sporty, pretty much indestructible and the price is right. Just the ticket when you’re not worried about camera/filming and just want to bash around.

Here’s the problem: I have 2-3 of these and the first couple work flawlessly. The last one I picked up will suddenly start doing flips and essentially dive right into the ground. The weird part is that is flies normally about 85 percent of the time so it’s not a total dud. Just very random out control movements.

Batteries are good, props are in correct place and good shape. It binds OK every time and I always do the standard calibration before every flight. Motors are good.

Opened it up and couldn’t see anything obvious on the board (antenna is OK & wires and solder joints look fine. I even switched transmitters to rule that out.

Maybe a bad board? Any suggestions or ideas?

yea, try hooking it up to Cleanflight/baseflight/betaflight. I would be willing to bet you have it stuck in manual or acro mode. If you cannot find instructions on how to change the mode on the quad, you can easily make a switch for them in Cleanflight and be sure which is activated.

Mine does the same thing. Most of the time it works normal, then it starts to do flips, sometimes as many as 4 in a row. If I have enough altitude I can recover control. If I am to low, then it crashes.

check the connection between the motors to esc and the esc to the power distribution board. bullet connectors vibrate and can lose connection for micro seconds creating erratic behavior.
