New cam on a budget?

So the Flying 3D X8 is on it's way and will be here Thursday. That being said I need a cam for it. Any suggestions? Trying to keep it close to $50 USD.
 
yes and I like it, but I couldn't find one for cheap. I found a sj4000 (hopefully not a knock off) for $65 USD and went ahead and ordered it. It actually has the right box and the sjcam logo so maybe it's the real deal

Perhaps hahaha.

The runcam is 40$, and the xiaomi yi is also pretty good if you want the GoPro form factor.
 
Where can I find the $40 runcam? I looked all over the place last night and couldn't find one for less than $80

Are you sure you were not looking at the Mobius? Also we are both talking USB correct?

Here is a Runcam for 54$ from their site, must have raised a little since I last checked, or I remember wrong.

I'm sure. I looked at the mobius as well. I couldn't find either for less than $72. Hobbyking had the mobius for $72. Amazon for $80 and a runcam for $80. If I would've known a little sooner I would have got that $54 one. But I already ordered the SJ4000 for $60something. From the videos I have seen the SJ is a pretty decent cam. The good news is they emailed me today saying it has shipped so it should be here this week.

Hahaha, sounds great, the only reason I brought the two of them after you bought the SJ4000 was for anyone looking at this thread later, the SJ4000 is a decent camera, a little big for some people, but not always.

Oh ok. Yeah, I would have preferred a mobius, or runcam for just the reason you mention, size/weight. I got a little anxious knowing my new Flying 3D X8 is on the way and wanted a cam for it. I was speeding through all the sites looking for a deal lol. I did overlook some better prices from China, but I wasn't willing to wait 1-2 months or more for a cam :cool:

Will do. I wasn't looking for one with wifi, but since it has it I will definitely test it out. What kind of distance is average for FPV over wifi? I would assume not very far, but I haven't looked into that yet.
 
Im still wanting to go with something much less weight..My thoughts are if you dont stress the motors even though they can handle the weight it should make a for long motor life and ease of flight..not to mention way longer flight times.
 
I agree. I wanted the mobius, or runcam to keep it light. Was going to do the credit card style mount because that probably weighs 5-10grams +/-. I got the SJ because I didn't find the good prices on the others. But, I'm going to see where all I can shed weight on the FY 3D X8 when it arrives. I'm looking for better props for it as we speak.

On my X8C I already took weight off the cam and mount. I plan on cutting the legs short to shed some more weight. (I don't need the long legs with the low-profile look my cam has now.) Not sure what else I will do on it, but I noticed this thing flies like a dream with no legs or cam so if I can get it close to that weight with the cam I will be thrilled.

Also there was the original Mobius key-chain camera for FPV.
