Throttle problem I think.

So I bought my first cheap quad to play around with first and got about an hour out of it till I accidentally connected the power connector the wrong way. The connection on the jjrc h8c is cheap and I fried the board.
So I thought well if I'm going to break drones I may as well learn how to build one, well fix them really.
So I bought a cheap diatone plastic frame 250 size and it is full working order except when I throttle up and take my thumb off the stick to hover, it starts to lose altitude. If I pitch forward I find it hard to adjust to keep it level. I do not want to start messing with settings if I don't have to.
So if any one has any idea please help. Thankyou.

Taking your thumb off the throttle is not how to hover. Always keep a grip on both sticks.

Rome wasn't built in a day, you need practice.... lots. Various, constant micro adjustments are a way of life.
OK advice taken thankyou, but if I do throttle up to say 5' should it stay at that height with a good setup, without adjustment.
I'm still doing the square routine at the moment. And forward & back. I do realise it's going to take a year or so to become competent. It's just that with building my own quad I thought maybe there was something wrong.

No it won't. There should be a Eureka! moment within a month. Some structured practice is a good idea. Something to help with visual orientation is a good thing, different colored props, some stripes in the front etc. It would have been nice to hone your chops on the JJRC though cuz practice entails crashing.

Unless you have some specialized flight controller, with a barometer, GPS etc, you gotta keep tweaking. What is your flight controller and radio?
