First & New Quad Research

So I have recently gotten into Drones and have been research and comparing Quadcopters for the last few weeks and am looking to finally pull the trigger soon. I have become aware of just how many sub $200 Quadcopters there are out there and it is a bit of a daunting task to try and narrow down which one is "The Best." In my research, I have found features and functionality that I want (or don't want) from my first Quadcopter. So with that being said, I was hoping to get others opinions (based on the following list) you would suggest getting. My list is as follows:

  • $200 or less. There is a little bit of wiggle room on this but trying in this range
  • RTF - I would like everything in the box to go "Plug n Play"
  • ~10 min. fly time. Obviously the more the better but would like to not go much below this. Willing to buy upgraded batteries.
  • 100m Max range. This is not a hard number but would like to keep it on the higher end of this range.
  • Not looking for a Nano / Micro Quadcopter. While the little ones are cool. I want one with a little more size so that it allows for a little more stability control.
  • RC \ RF communication. I do not want the controller to communicate via WiFi due to the more limited max range. I am OK if it has WiFi capability to stream FPV or Images.
  • Hover / Stability mode. I'm not sure if this is somewhat built in to all units with 6-Axis control but would like to have it stabilize / hover if I remove my hands from the controls
  • Brushless motors. I have read that brushless motors are more stable and reliable but are usually found in the higher priced models
  • FPV. This is optional but would be a bonus if it had this feature
I appreciate everyones' input in advance. My plan is to purchase before the end of the year.

Thanks
Chris Bishop

Hey Chris, based on your outline I'd suggest the Syma X8G to get you started. It's going for less than $120 right now and comes with an 8MP camera. If you're not a big fan of that one I'd take a look through this list at some of the cheaper models and see if any of those tickle your fancy.

Good luck! Let us know what you choose.

Thanks for the reply and info. I did a little more research and decided to start off basic. I just ordered the eachine E010 ($20) & a Hubsan X4 H107P ($24). I thought it best to start cheap and work my way up. I should have the Hubsan on Wed. and the Eachine early December. picked up some extra batteries and props for WHEN I crash

Good choices, and the props and extra batteries will definitely come in handy :)

Have fun!
