Good drone ideas to get started?

One of my friends recently got a cheerson cx-20 and was showing it off. it looks solid and flies nice, it seems great for a first buy. was wondering if theres any other options out there that would compete with this one? around $250-400?

Not exactly, it's a large and powerful machine that needs a lot of room. Learning to fly means lots of crashing, which for that beast could get expensive.

Some small, light and inexpensive (<$30) is better for learning the ropes. Many of these can take quite a beating, and still keep on ticking. :)

A smaller drone is what you want to start with. Look on youtube for christmas day crashes and you will see what we mean.

I started with a Kodo 2 ($60) and it really helped me learn to use a larger one. I suggest it if you may want to get into anything other than the professional camera drones (DJI Pantoms and the like).
