Less than successful first flight.

Hi folks,

Finally got a chance to try out the quad I bought on ebay. Plugged into a laptop and had a look at the setting on the APM - all looked good. So off to the field I went.

Everything seems to be fine but even at full throttle it only hovers a few feet (8-10 something like that) and even with it left full on it slowly and gently moves down. It did this every time and in every mode so I'm not sure whats up with this now.

It has convinced me even more that the whole thing needs stripping down and rebuilding. I think the guy who put this together must have had shares in "Double sided tape inc" because everything is held on with cable ties, black tape or double sided sticky pads (even the landing skids). I'll pick up a supply of small nuts and bolts then strip it down one evening this week. Rebuild with just the controller & rx - leave the FPV/sonar/GPS off it for the time then I can try it out. If it works then add another bit at a time till it's perfect or I find the bit in error.

I guess the issue could also be the remote (Devo 7). If I understand things correctly I should also be able to check that out in mission planner as well.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Yeha - all motors span and it did go up so I am saying motors/battery/ESC at the least look o.k. It's almost as if it's doing a RTH landing. Should have time to strip it all down tonight though. See where I am with it and maybe have a flight later today or tomorrow. First I need to replace a load of stick pads with nuts and bolts :).
