My first quadcopter

Hi and welcome , kk is a good easy board to use and set up , the frame is also a good start i would not have it as it is in the main pic, the plates that stick out are for a camera to mount on so i would have them front and back and may be the 2 yellow are front so you can see what way your flying , get some blue lock tight for the screws so they dont fall out
the motors look like 1000kv my boy gets 15 mins out of a 450 quad with the same motors but bigger props
the 2.2 battery is ok but if you can afford go for a 3300 mah will give you longer flight time , as for the props they can snap in flight test quad first and if you get a good flight time on them and are happy then buy the same but in carbon fibre Gemfan do them and are really nice and it will fly much nicer on the carbon fibre blade ( dont mistake for carbon nylon reinforced) these chip very easy
the quad esc is good , i use single esc for each motor flashed with simonk code they work so smooth and make it easy to trouble shoot problems if you get any
as for transmitter its ok are you sure you want mode1 most people fly mode 2 which is left stick throttle and rudder ,right stick cyclic control
if it was me i would look at the orange transmitter ( spektrum clone )

I see they are on back order but are worth the wait a transmitter that is programmable is so much better and the quad will fly better for it too, its to do with how good the gimbals are, or look at a high spec one on the bay, second hand, the new DX6 and DX9 are out so there will be good dx6i ,second hand ones out there , and who knows you may get the bug for a heli later and that one you are looking at will not do it
Too add to the list
Lock tight ( blue ) dont use loads just a tiny bit on last threads of screw please dont use RED your never get it apart again
Servo leads ( this is so you can plug receiver to kk board) here is a link

Zip ties , now when i did mine i used the same colour as arms so you could not see them , you dont need loads ok the more you use the more weight you add to quad keep it light flys for longer and better
Battery strap and velcro
Now as you build it keep checking CG ( centre of gravity) keep it balanced the battery position will help , Now my boy had problems when quad was high up seeing front and back so i fitted two small strips of LEDs ,red and white this fixed the problem , i am not saying you have to be think about it can be done after but better to do as you build , they run off the main power leads
IF you need any more help you can get me on here or holtneil@hotmail.co.uk

Hi Arote ,don`t worry you can`t flash it , if you have not ordered it yet watch this video it will show you how well simonk works on a quad motor
NO dont use b grade battery wont last long they have a fault thats why they are b grade ,these will be better

Transmitter is personal taste
The dart is good its like an upgraded hubsan x4 get spare blades as they can pop off and are hard to find also get spare batteries to your want about 3 or 4 so you can charge one as you use the others up or your be sitting around every 5 mins if you only have one

The q brain is good works well but if one part of esc goes down the lot has to be replaced ,if you have 4 single esc`s if one goes just replace that one , simonk is a code that is flashed in to the esc , and that esc is good but i always go over kill go for 30amp , the simonk code was wrote for multirotors by simonk and is well known for multi rotors like KK(Rolf R Bakke) they worked together on the multi rotors , its all personal taste really , i have used 30a simonk flashed esc`s for 2 years never had a problem

You fit what you can on this quad and then next time you build one and you will then try simonk flashed
I started with a 450 i now have micro quad, 450 ,550 ,666mm quads plus 450 heli 500 heli so your fleet will grow just wait and see

Hi Arote , there no thing as a stupid question so ask away my friend , that charger is a copy they are not always that good , charge rate can be off .
The last thing you want is to cook a lipo , A lipo is a high powered bomb treat it carefully and all will be ok ,treat it rough and it can burn your house down, as your new here are some rules to keep you safe
Charge at 1c unless battery says on it you can charge high rate (1c works out like this 2200mah take the first two numbers and put a point between them so you get 2.2 this is your charge rate in amps 2.2amps so if its a 4000mah thats 4.0 amps ,5000 is 5.0amps)
Never fly batteries so they drop below 3,7 amps a cell ( buy a cheap battery checker)looks like this, to get flight time fly for 2 mins test battery fly more keep timing it , retest till you get 3.7amps a cell you may get about 10 mins from that set up but do it this way, if you take them below 3.7 a cell they may not recharge up or if they do they can be damaged so dont hold power as they should ( i have lipos that are 2 years old and work like new)

If the battery has a full charge use within a week if your not going to fly put it at a store charge ( i fly then if i am not flying any more for over 7 day i dont charge them back up leave them at 3.7 amps a cell ) this is the voltage after a flight , or put charger into store mode and it will put battery to 3.7 a cell
Dont charge a hot battery leave it 5 mins to cool down after a flight , also dont fly from a charge up leave 5 mins then fly
Get the real charger its not a lot more and will be good for years it will have a hologram on the back of charger

HI Arote no my friend thats for plush esc ,the q brain will be ok at it is ,There are general ESCs these can be used on any thing helis, planes, boats these need to be set up ( programmed)
Then there are ESCs just for quads , then one for helis , then one for planes, normally these are set up right to start with
Programmable ESCs to a newbie can be hard to set up as some times you need to know the timing for your brushless motor get this wrong and you can burn the motor up
What have you got my friend ?

Hi Arote , great list my friend , ok will answer bit at a time props 10x4.7 are a must but use the ones your looking at to test and set up , a quad with any weight will wollow on plastic blades and blades will snap off at hub at some point , get carbon fibre one gemfan do them i have had them and are really good , the quad will fly better on them . the props you looking at will not fit the motors i think you need dji props and they wont then be big enough they only do 9 inch and for a 500+ frame your going to need 10x4.7 these motors will be better and props will fit ok , if you use a 3 cell battery 10x4.5 props each motor will give you 700g thrust at 12.4 amps so the Q brain will be ok but if you go 4 cell it will eat the Q brain , quad motors are very important so get good ones these are no way the best , T motors will be up to £90 each motor
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...e_28_26_1000KV_235W_short_shaft_version_.html
The frame is a good size the small feet on the end of the arms you will not use as your going for camera mount and legs in one , so dont fit them to save weight
Your going to need some wire i dont think the wire on motors will reach q brain , so get wire and heat shrink also connectors
Also get velro and a battery strap, on E bay you can get rubber mounts for the FCB to stop vibration getting in to the board ,its not a must try the quad first if you think its playing up then fit some
go on ecalc with the set up that you want and see what it says
Rule of thumb normally is low kv motors run bigger props lift more , but some times need more battery like a 4 cell
high kv motors rum smaller props as they rev a lot higher but can reduce flight times
