Rotor Direction

Hey guys,

Just starting out with this whole drone thing. I'm and electrical type guy, hoping to learn more about drones and at some point start designing the boards and controllers :)

Anyways!

I'm building my first drone and I'm having some troubles with the rotors.

I know that the motors should counter-rotate. Meaning no adjacent motor should be rotating in the same direction. This prevents a net spin kinda like the second rotor on a helicopter.

I reversed the lead on select motors to get this effect.

After building my drone I noticed that that rotors are not all the same, it looked like two are inverted. See picture.

Does this compensate for that? Meaning all motors should spin the same direction and then alternate style of rotors?

Thanks :)

Can't quite understand what your are saying. For one the motors have to match where the flight controller expects/wants them to be. Make sure your FC is facing forward. This is quite important.

There are 2 types of props, CW and CCW, note where they go and which way the motors should be spinning. Your FC may not use the same numbering scheme, but the prop position/rotation will be the same.

Look for the leading edge/high side of the prop. Use the leading edge to place your prop. Think of it as a direction pointer.

The top prop is a CCW, the bottom CW. CW often have an 'R' after the size on them.
