Syma X5SW app is broken (New member)

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Syma X5SW, which works great, one issue though I can only view the video on the app, there is no way to view it on a PC, I even tried to "trick" it by using a converter, but even the converter rejected it, the only way I can view the footage is on the app, I was just wondering if someone had found a way round this?

Thanks in advance.

There are applications that will let you run Andriod apps on a Windows machine, can't remember any names just do a google search.

Well I'm not that fussed about the app running on my PC or not, I just want to get the footage in a format that my video editing software would recognise..

VLC player still rejects it, I've even tried ending the recording from the app thinking there was some finalisation process, tried uploading the video files to youtube, still gets rejected, I have tried all the converters, is there anyone on here who has the same model?

It saves in *.mov format & I cannot change that, whatever program I choose to run it, it just gives me this message saying:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

VLC & Quicktime does much the same thing & converters reject the files.

This is the one I purchased:

This is the app I had to get for it as per the user book:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomdxs.symafpv

It's very frustrating as I can view the video on the app, but once it leaves the app, it is useless :/

Hope you can help.

If you look at the reviews for this app on the play store you will see that you are not alone. This is not the app I use to use with my X8W,( I no longer use the 2.4 GhZ camera because of likely interference with transmitter), which let me save and view video on my windows machine with no issues , the app I have doesn't seem to exist in the play store any longer

Ok so I drug the old syma x8w camera out hooked it up and shot a short vid, plays back fine in the syma app on my phone and will play from the Syma folder on my phone using VLC which I do have installed on my Note3. Next I copied from the Syma folder in my andriod and copied to my windows8 computer, plays fine with windows media player and vlc no converson necessary, my video is saved as a 3gp file. I believe the camera for the x8w is the same as the one you have on yours but yours lacks the additional blub shaped housing the x8w has, that actually has the smaller camera housed inside. The only thing I can imagine is something in the Syma andriod app has changed. Mine was downloaded over a year ago and if I search google play store the app I have does not show up.

I guess it is possible that the app has been broken from an update, I tried emailing the developers & they never responded, I use windows 7, is there a way you could get you version of the app, maybe I could force feed it onto my phone, although I have yet to try it on the samsung tablet or the samsung phone...

This is the link the seller on ebay sent me for the app, but it says it's not available in my country..

I probably have the APK stored somewhere in my backups if I can find it and figure out how to send it to you, I will be more than happy to do so, it'll be tomorrow though, time for bed here, early to rise for work tomorrow.

Right well this is really bizzare but the footage I took the other day has now decided to be playable, not sure if it's because the I used the APK version (Thanks Quest) or whether they just had to finalise, what I did notice is that all the footage I took was originally in one file even though I took several recordings (when my sony xperia phone is plugged in) but today after I installed the APK version they were all seperate files...

***Relavation***

I turn the phone off then on again & then plug it into the PC (Win7) & the footage then appears in the SYMA folder, so there we are, you have to restart the phone as part of the finalisation process!

I can now do a simple drag n drop to my Windows 7 PC which allows me to upload to youtube, without the use of converters :)

I thought I would put these notes up incase anyone else experience the same issue!

Thank you for your help Jackson & Quest, be warned though I will probably be back later to pick your brains about other stuff drone related & possible even contribute some help too :p
